Hiking up at Horsetooth Park

Pretty much every weekend I go hiking somewhere in this beautiful state.  Most days I go someplace that's within an hour drive of my house.  Last Saturday, I went to Horsetooth Mountain Park, aptly names for the tooth-shaped rock formations.

Colorado Raptor Saturday

I stopped by an open house for Rocky Mountain Raptor Program.  Each month of so, they have an open house that showcase the birds that they have rescued through their program.  We saw an owl, hawks, and some other birds. I need a bird book from the library. ;)

The dirty truth.

My debt.  I had all of my debt paid off about 10 years ago.  Then I bought a used car and a condo.  I had just had too many expenses one year and some poor judgement and it's now back to almost $20,000.

My debt now :(

TOTAL DEBT
Furnace, hot water heater, replaced.3460
car amount4,279
Credit card11882
TOTAL$19294

It's painful and I can't do it anymore.  So moving on up needs to get rid of this debt before it takes over my life.   Luckily the interest  rates are all under 5% but it weighs heavy on me.

The plan is $700 a month.  I should be able to do it about 3 years.  8/2021.  That's my goal at least.

Rocky Mountain National Park

My sister and I went on a gorgeous hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. I live approximately and hour and half from the park so I bought a national park pass for $75.  It is good for so many parks around the states and if I just want to hike for a few hours it makes it worth it.
We parked at Lawn lake trailhead and hiked to the Ypsilon Lake. The hike was around 9 miles long and had an elevation gain of over 2000 feet.  It took us about 4 hours with breaks and snacks.

Hiking Saturday

My friend and I did a 5 mile hike today up at Horsetooth Mountain Park.  It's part of the Larimer County park system in Northern Colorado.  We took the Audra Culver and South ridge trails which are much less crowded than the main hike up the to Horsetooth Rock.  We burned close to 1000 calories in the 2 hours.  The elevation gain was 1028 feet.  Anyway, it was very beautiful.  It's really dry from  the lack of rain and it being the end of summer.  Here's some pictures of our little trip.
View of the Horsetooth rock from Audra Culver trail.
View behind Horsetooth Park.  Rockies in the distance behind the smoke.

I'm relaxing and watching a movie tonight before heading to Rocky Mountain National Park tomorrow for some more weekend hiking.

Books I'm reading and my kitten

I finished "The Age of Innocence" by Edith Wharton last night.  I kind of had to push through the end because there were some slow parts.  Pretty good read overall.

This weekend, I will be starting "Lonesome Dove" by Larry McMurtry.   I think I read this when I was  kid in the 80's.  I remember my dad had it on the shelf next to the fireplace.
I also started "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon probably a month ago.  I hope to finish it this month.

Dasha and I just chilling.

Astronomy night and a little money goal.

It's Friday.  I'm going with some people to an open space are tonight to look at stars and planets.  It's kind of an amateur astronomer night.  People bring their biggest telescopes and share the views with us.  It's a pretty fun night, but the mosquitoes were out in droves last month.  It's also projected to have some afternoon thunderstorms.  So we will see how it goes. ;)

Goals: Pay off two small credit card bills by November 30:  Barclay $300 and Chase $445.
